Fires ravage many industrial facilities each year, causing a lot of property damage and approximately 150,000 – 200,000 victims annually according to the Ministry of Health. What is shocking is that ninety percent of these fires can be attributed to human errors. To prevent such occurrences the Kenya Fire Risk and Reduction Rules (2007) section 21 requires all businesses to carry out fire training for its employees.

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is an area concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. The goals of occupational safety and health programs include fostering a safe and healthy work environment for all. 

Under section 2 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, 2007 of Kenya; all employers must ensure the safety, health and welfare of their employees. The Act further mandates that the employee should carry out annual risk assessment concerning OSHA and send it to the area of occupational safety and health officer.
